Boheme Opera NJ’s production of Misha Dutka’s “Liebovar”

Watch now on Facebook! Click HERE to watch and hear the world premier of Misha Dutka’s Liebovar, produced by Boheme Opera NJ for Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Liebovar, or The Little Blind Girl tells the story of the Theresienstadt concentration camp: A grim prison for thousands of Jewish artists, writers, singers, dancers, composers and musicians. But when the prisoners learn they are being sent to die in the gas chambers of Auschwitz, they decide to fight back with their only weapon – opera! Combining their art and artistry, they produce an opera hoping that the Nazis will love it so much that they will spare the cast and orchestra. The production’s unlikely lead? A little blind girl with a beautiful voice and an unflinching faith in the Almighty.

What unfolds is a tale of war and death, love and treachery – and the power of human creativity to triumph over human brutality.

In a special event for Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, Boheme Opera NJ presented a concert performance of Misha Dutka’s world-premiere opera on April 27th at 7:30 PM, in the 1867 Sanctuary, located at 101 Scotch Road, Ewing Township, NJ 08628.
